Chaniece “Charm” Williamson

As Saleek whipped through the city streets, I pulled out my cell phone and reserved a double suite for one week. I wasn’t sure how long I would be here because I had already made up my mind that I was leaving with Saleek. I was gonna find myself in a nice hotel until I found my own apartment. It was no fucking way that I was finna be shacking up with no nigga. I don’t care how fine he is. Don’t get me wrong. I was feeling his ass in the worst way, but I wasn’t dumb enough to allow him to think he had any type of control over me. I put my phone away as he parked in the garage. Grabbing my purse, I stepped out and shut the door. Walking toward the entrance, I saw Roxy coming my way, so I stopped to wait for her. “Hurry up, bitch,” I said loud enough for only her to hear. Together, we strolled to the main entrance and approached the desk.

“Welcome to the Galt House Hotel. Do you have a reservation, or would you like to check for a vacancy?” the young guy who worked the front desk asked with a smile.

“I do have a reservation for Diamond Johnson,” I spoke with much confidence as if I truly was my mama. In this particular hotel, you had to be at least twenty-five to check-in.

“Alright, Ms. Johnson, I see you took care of everything online. Here are two-room keys. Your suite will be on the top floor, fourteen sixty-nine. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me by simply dialing zero from any phone inside your suite.” He passed me the cards, and I thanked him as I slid one to Roxy and pulled out my phone to let Saleek know which room to bring my bags.

“What’s up, lil mama?”

“Hey, it’s room number fourteen sixty-nine. Can you bring my bags in, please?” I was cheesing super hard as I clutched the phone in my hand.

“Bet!” was all he said as I put my phone in my back pocket and proceeded to my room.

“Roxy, you’ve been kind of quiet. Is there something on your mind?” I pressed the button for the elevator to go up as I waited for her to answer me.

“Yeah, I do have a lot of shit on my mind, and we gon’ rap about it after we get settled and shit.” I could tell something was bothering her, and I didn’t like that. We stepped off the elevator and followed the arrows to our suite. I walked up to the door and put the card in. When the light turned green, I turned the handle and opened the door. Flipping on the light, I admired the room and appreciated the balcony and view of the historic Ohio River. Unlocking the adjourning door, the other room looked identical to the main one, except it was missing the kitchenette and sitting room area that was also sectioned off for minimal privacy if needed.
